Christian “Chris O” Owens, born in New York City, began showing signs of musicality and uncanny rhythm at the tender age of two. At age twelve Christian and his mother moved from the Bronx, NY to Atlanta, GA and weren’t there long before Christian’s natural talents caught the attention of choreographer Miriam Morgan—this is where Christian’s dance career began. Shortly thereafter Bloc South agency owners Nefertiti and Sindy also took note and immediately asked Christian to join the Bloc South Agency family. Christian was only thirteen!Christian went on to become one of the familiar kid-faces at Monsters of Hip-Hip dance conventions where he studied under famed choreographers such as Tabitha & Napoleon, Kevin Maher, Rhapsody James, Jamal Sims, Dave Scott, Gill Duldulao, Mr. Wiggles, Poppin’ Pete and many more! At the age of fifteen Christian became the youngest member of the Rhapsody James Company in NYC. Christian’s resume boasts being a featured dancer and/or choreographer in countless live and televised shows including the 2008 BET HIP-Hop Awards and the 2010 Soul Train Awards. Christian has been a featured dancer in movies such as Stomp the Yard and the upcoming Disney film Step-Up 3-D (summer, 2010 release). Christian is a true testament to what hard work and focus can do. If you ask him about his love of dance he will without hesitation tell you “dancing is my life!” Today Christian is a sought-after dancer and choreographer and has also ventured into the world of stage and performance production. You might catch one of his classes in North Hollywood at The Millennium Dance Studio, New York City at The Broadway Dance Center, or find him on Stage at a Monsters of Hip-Hop convention, or teaching at dance studio near you. |
